If you've lived here more than a summer, you already know the rhythm. The Wednesday concerts at the lake ease off, the Tuesday markets thin out, and by mid-September the mountain calendar goes quiet until snow. What's easy to miss is how much of the season's programming gets stacked into a single five-day window in August. Between Saturday the 15th and Wednesday the 19th, Evergreen hosts a headliner concert, a free outdoor movie, and the last EPRD show of 2026. If you skip that stretch, you're not skipping one event. You're skipping the season's send-off.

Saturday belongs to the Bacon Brothers
Wooden Hawk Foundation's student-run Mountain Music Fest returns to Evergreen Sunday, Aug 16, 2026, headlined by The Bacon Brothers, Michael and Kevin Bacon. The organization has also promoted Saturday, August 15th as the 2026 date for the Mountain Music Fest, so double-check your ticket before you drive over. Either way, this is not a bar band tucked into a corner of a brewery patio. It's a national act playing a town of roughly 9,000 people, and the proceeds fund something concrete.
That "something" is worth naming, because Wooden Hawk is a familiar name on local signage but not everyone knows what it does. The Futures Center and Alumni Center at Conifer High School were scheduled for completion in May 2026, giving students a dedicated hub for exploring life after graduation and connecting them with internships, trades, military, college, and gap-year opportunities alongside alumni who can share real-world insight. The foundation has also completed an Evergreen High School Future's Center and Alumni Center, offering students access to internships, financial support, and alumni contact for all future pathways. When you buy a ticket to see Kevin Bacon sing, you're funding college counseling for kids from your zip code. That framing tends to change how the night feels.
Sunday, park a lawn chair for Barbie
The Sunday programming is quieter and free. Buchanan Park Family Movie Night on August 16 is billed as the Last Bell Celebration, closing out the summer series before the school year restarts. The featured movie is Barbie, and it's free to enter for all ages. Gates open early enough to stake out grass. Concessions and fire pits are on site, and there's an optional family campout for anyone who wants to make it an overnight. If your kids are in the elementary years and you want a low-effort evening after Saturday's concert, this is the anchor.
Worth knowing about the venue itself: Buchanan Park Field sits at 32003 Ellingwood Trail. It's the same footprint the EPRD Summer Concert Series has been using on alternating Wednesdays, which means the field is broken in for exactly this kind of blanket-and-cooler crowd.
Wednesday: the last free concert, and the parking problem nobody warns you about
The EPRD Summer Concert Series wraps on Wednesday, August 19 at Dedisse Park at Evergreen Lake. Music is free. Parking is the catch.
There will be no parking available at the Lake House during Summer Concerts. Only VIP Parking Pass Holders and shuttles will be permitted. VIP passes sold out for the 2026 season, which means unless you already bought one back in May, you're taking a shuttle or you're walking a long way from downtown. Here's the piece that catches first-timers:
Free shuttles run from Stagecoach Park at 3229 El Pinal Drive and Christ the King Church at 4291 Evergreen Parkway. Shuttles operate from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. No pets on the shuttles. No alcohol on the shuttles.
That last rule matters. You cannot walk onto the shuttle with a hard seltzer. And you cannot bring outside alcohol into the Lake House event either. Concert goers may purchase food from local food trucks or bring their own, and alcohol may be purchased from the concert bar with a valid state ID. No outside alcohol allowed. The Buchanan Park shows are the opposite policy, but this final show is at the lake, so plan accordingly.
One quiet detail residents can feel good about: all bar tips will be donated to the Active4All Evergreen Foundation. Round up.
The 2026 lineup has leaned local and regional. Jeff Goodwin and the Front Range Cowboys are a Colorado country act, and Jeff Goodwin received the 2025 Male Vocalist of the Year Award from the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame. Opening slots have gone to younger area musicians. Sydney Sava is a singer and songwriter from Evergreen who writes and performs on piano and ukulele, and she just won "Mountains Got Talent 2026." If you've been on the fence about which Wednesday to attend all summer, the closer is the one that will still be talked about at the coffee shop in October.
Tuesday markets, if you want the full week
Both farmers markets are still running in mid-August, and they are not the same market. There are two weekly farmers markets in Evergreen this summer, both supporting local vendors selling fresh produce, baked treats, and unique artisan goods. The Original Farmers Market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday at Church of the Cross, 28253 Meadow Drive, next door to Hiwan Heritage Park and Museum. The Evergreen Farmers Market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday at Center for the Arts Evergreen, 31880 Rocky Village Drive. Doing both in a single Tuesday morning is entirely feasible and probably the fastest way to remember why you moved up here in the first place.
Where to eat before or after
If you want a sit-down before the Saturday show or after the Wednesday concert, the shortlist that keeps surfacing in local Yelp coverage as of April 2026 includes Evoke 1923, Hungry Goat Scratch Kitchen & Wine Bar, Bait Shack Tavern, Murphy's Mountain Grill, Hacienda Evergreen, The Cow An Eatery II, and Blackbird. Cactus Jack's Saloon & Grill and Little Bear Saloon remain the reliable pre-concert options if you want music with your dinner. Bistro Del Lago is the on-lake pick when you're already headed to the Lake House and don't want to move your car twice.
None of these are new to anyone who's been here five years. The point is that on Wednesday the 19th, every one of them will be busy at 4:30 p.m. If you like your table without a wait, treat this like a Broncos home game and book early.
What comes after
The season doesn't fully end on the 19th, it just changes character. Two things to keep on your radar:
- Friday, August 21: Halfway There at Center for the Arts Evergreen, 7:00 p.m. Ticketed indoor show at 31880 Rocky Village Drive.
- September 12: Big Chili Cook-Off Music & Arts Festival. Support your local firefighters with chili tasting, live entertainment, and more. Gates open at 10 AM and the event lasts until 5 PM.
After that, the calendar flips to fall. Farmers markets wind down in September, the EPRD stage comes apart, and the Lake House goes back to weddings and private events.
